New Ridley Scott android series to stream on HBO Max

Many of the world’s high profile series and movies are being scooped up by streaming services. The new streaming service HBO Max had to make a big splash when it launched and bought the F.R.I.E.N.D.S. reunion show. But HBO Max also wants to make sure it can compete with new, original content. Ridley Scott’s upcoming series Raised by Wolves has been acquired by HBO Max, which paints a creepy picture of a dystopian future.

The streaming service has released a trailer for the series, and you can definitely see Ridley Scott’s signature sci-fi characteristics in it, reminiscent of Alien.

The synopsis shared with the trailer reads: “Mother was programmed to protect everyone after Earth had been destroyed. When the big bad wolf shows up, she is the one we must trust.”

Scott reportedly directed the first couple of episodes of the show, which means it is his directorial debut for a television series.

The series will start streaming on HBO Max on September 3rd. However, it could come to other streaming services in markets where HBO Max doesn’t yet operate. Streaming services usually try to gobble up the rights to as many series and movies as possible, to protect from other services buying it or to have the licencing on that property if that service decides to launch in their market.

The trailer depicts the story of the android mother, played by Amanda Collin, who is looking after a colony of human children. The world, as she explains to the little ones, was destroyed by war. So, she was built to start anew by raising humans on a virgin planet. That is until the ‘big, bad wolf’ makes his entrance (portrayed by Vikings’ Travis Fimmel).
