Amazon unveils new Alexa Tablet lineup featuring Nanomatte displays

Amazon has officially expanded its hardware ecosystem with three new tablets: the flagship Alexa Tablet 12 Pro, the entertainment-focused Alexa Tablet 11, and the portable Alexa Tablet 8. Built with aluminium unibody designs, the devices feature deep integration with the Alexa+ AI assistant, pre-installed Amazon applications, the Kindle reading environment, and out-of-the-box Google Play Store support.

Designed as a productivity powerhouse, the 12-inch Pro model delivers three times the processing performance and nine times faster graphics capability than any previous Amazon tablet. Powered by a 4nm 8-core processor, the device supports up to 16GB of RAM, Wi-Fi 6E connectivity, quad Dolby Atmos speakers, and up to 16 hours of video playback.

Its 280 PPI, 120Hz display features a 3:2 aspect ratio and is available in standard glass or an advanced Nanomatte finish. Developed in partnership with Corning, the Nanomatte display etches pixel-aligned textures into the glass at a sub-pixel level, preserving colour accuracy while eliminating glare in direct light.

To complement the 12 Pro, Amazon introduced the Alexa Tablet Pro Pen ($90), which replicates the tactile resistance of paper when used on the Nanomatte glass, and a magnetic Alexa Tablet Pro Keyboard ($150) that requires no Bluetooth pairing.

The Alexa Tablet 11 targets multimedia consumption with a 2.5K display operating at 90Hz in a 16:10 aspect ratio. It features Dolby Atmos audio, an 8-core chip, 8GB of RAM, and up to 15 hours of battery life, with colour options including Graphite, Amethyst, and Matcha starting at $330.

The compact Alexa Tablet 8 measures 7.95mm thin and weighs 329 grams. Equipped with an 8-core chip, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage, it launches at $230 in Graphite, Rosette, and Teal.

All three tablets incorporate an updated Kindle reading engine that automatically suppresses notifications, reduces blue light emissions, and offers customizable paper-like display themes.

Additionally, the devices integrate Alexa+ On-Screen Intelligence. The opt-in AI feature allows users to query content on screen, such as automatically adding event schedules to a calendar or identifying products in videos directly on Amazon.

The lineup is available in North America, with European availability across the UK, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain.
