Apple iPhone 9 likely to launch in a matter of days

Don’t expect Apple to have a lavish launch event anytime soon – coronavirus has scuppered all those potential events. However, we have received reliable information that the rumoured Apple iPhone 9 will be launching on April 5th.

A tipster at Best Buy sent a photo to media showing a case for a “new iPhone 4.7-inch, 2020.” This is, of course, the exact description we received previously of the upcoming ‘cheap’ iPhone 9. It could also potentially be called the iPhone SE2 (named after the last budget iPhone, the SE).

While we previously thought we would get the new iPhone sometime in March, this case will go on sale on the 5th of April. It is very probable that the new iPhone will launch in this period then, as is the norm with phone and case manufacturer agreements.

There have been conflicting reports regarding the launch of the new iPhone 9. Some claimed that it will be delayed due to the coronavirus outbreak, while more recent reports have said production was on par with expectation.

We expect this new budget iPhone to have the same design as the iPhone 8, which launched alongside the iPhone X. It will have a 4.7-inch display, underneath which we’ll see a comeback of Touch ID. It will have upgraded internals over the iPhone 8, though, with an A13 processor. There might also be a ‘plus’ version of the iPhone 9. We’re expecting the new phone to be priced from $399.
