After an enormously long wait, the Windows 10 Mobile rollout for older Windows Phone devices is officially set to begin today on the 17th of March.
According to a new report, Microsoft’s long-awaited Windows 10 Mobile update is set to finally arrive on older Windows Phone devices at some point today.
According to a source who is close to the Redmond company, Microsoft will today launch a push-notification through which Windows Phone users can begin the update.

This follows on from the previous two release dates Microsoft has set internally and hasn’t managed to meet.
The update itself has been an issue of frustration for many users of older Windows Phones – most notably the recently released Lumia 640 and 640 XL – which Microsoft promised to offer the Windows 10 upgrade to “expressly”.
The consequence of the Windows 10 Mobile update is that users running Windows 8.1 will not be bereft of support, but will be bereft of minor updates to present issues with the only option being to upgrade to Windows 10.
While Windows 10 Mobile has seen a large amount of praise for its commitment to Universal Apps, Cortana, and Continuum features, users have criticised the update for its lack of quality over previous version of Windows Mobile, with some requesting the option to downgrade until certain issues are taken care of.
Unfortunately, there is no information on a complete list of devices that are set to receive the update, the source in question has stated that Microsoft is set to make a formal announcement regarding availability later today.
