YouTube Red prepares to offer original programming

In a bold move, YouTube Red original programming is set to take the battle to Netflix with a series of 10 original shows releasing on February 10th.

While South Africans might be just getting comfortable following the arrival of Netflix in the country, another video-on-demand service is preparing to up the ante: YouTube Red original programming is set to release on February 10th.
The move, which is aimed to counter the growing popularity of Netflix original titles such as Marvel’s Jessica Jones or Beasts of No Nation, is set to supplement YouTube Red’s ad-free content in addition to offline saving capability and background play support.

Early adopters will be able to enjoy three original feature films from top YouTube content creators, as well as a new program starring PewDiePie from February 10th onwards.
YouTube Red is available for $10 USD per month, and was launched earlier last year.
