For the iPhone fans amongst us, Alan Knott Craig has already just given us even more choice when it comes to Apple’s phone. Until now SA could only choose between Vodacom and MTN if you wanted to get an iPhone with your contract.
MyBroadband has gotten hold of the initial pricing, and there is more good news if you want to get hold of the previous generation (but still great) iPhone 4 model with 8GB of storage. The 4S is also there, in all its sizes:

There are no details yet if you want a lower capacity model with a bigger contract, but so far we like what we see. These contracts seem well suited to users who use their phones less for calling, and more for data – something the iPhone loves to gobble up. The lowest end contract seems like an especially good deal if Siri does not quite sway you.
These contracts makes the current iPhone MTN deals seem especially bad – MTN still only gives 250MB of data with all of their iPhone contracts, which is woefully inadequate. Good on Cell C – it’s great to have more choice for the SA consumer.
Cell C is also offering the iPhone on its 6 and 12 month contracts – but this will naturally push up the handset subsidy per month. But, if you want the latest iPhone every year, the 12 month contract might make more sense than having to wait 24 months before you can get hold of Apple’s latest and greatest.
