The updated 14-inch MacBook Pro incorporates the baseline M6 processor, featuring a 12-core CPU, a 12-core GPU with per-core Neural Accelerators, and a dual 16-core Neural Engine paired with faster unified memory architecture.

Compared to its M5 predecessor, Apple highlights key performance gains:

  • Graphics & Rendering: Up to 30% faster graphics performance and 1.3 times faster rendering speeds in Blender.
  • On-Device AI Acceleration: A 25% overall boost to AI workloads, with the Neural Engine delivering 1.9 times faster speeds for tasks such as image generation and super-resolution upscaling.
  • LLM Optimization: Up to 1.3 times faster time-to-first-token performance when processing local language models.

The notebook retains its 14-inch Liquid Retina XDR display, offering up to 1,600 nits of peak brightness. Buyers can now configure the panel with an optional nano-texture anti-reflective coating ($150 add-on).

Wireless connectivity receives an upgrade to Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. I/O includes three Thunderbolt 4 ports, an HDMI port, a MagSafe 3 charging port, an SDXC card slot, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Apple quotes up to 24 hours of battery life on a single charge, supporting fast charging via a 96W power adapter.

The larger 16-inch MacBook Pro tier currently remains restricted to M5 Pro and M5 Max processor options.

Available in Space Black, featuring an anodization seal to reduce fingerprint visibility, and Silver, base configurations include 16GB of unified memory and 1TB of storage starting at $1,999 (approx. R37,500 local pricing before local taxes). Upgrades allow memory expansion up to 32GB and storage up to 4TB. Pre-orders open 28 October 2026, with retail availability following on 6 November 2026.
