Here are some of the biggest game announcements and trailers:

Gears of War: E-Day

Get ready to chainsaw some Locusts on Emergence Day.  Microsoft dropped a bomb at their Xbox Games Showcase with the reveal of Gears of War: E-Day. Developed by The Coalition, this new entry in the popular sci-fi shooter series takes us back 14 years before the original game.

E-Day serves as an origin story, chronicling the very first time the monstrous Locust horde emerged on the planet Sera.  The announcement trailer channels the vibes of the classic “Mad World” commercial that helped launch the Gears franchise.  Expect to see a young Marcus Fenix facing off against the brutal Locust threat.

There’s no release date yet, but the game is being built with the powerful Unreal Engine 5.  This means we can expect stunning visuals and intense action as Gears of War returns to its roots.

Life is Strange: Double Exposure

Max Caulfield is back. The iconic protagonist from the original Life is Strange returns in a thrilling new adventure titled Life is Strange: Double Exposure.  This supernatural murder mystery throws Max into a time-bending twist where she must solve a crime across two parallel timelines.  Get ready to rewind, shift, and unravel the truth when Double Exposure launches on October 29th.

Microsoft finally confirmed a release window for Fable, set for sometime in 2025.  Following a teaser trailer last year, today’s Xbox Games Showcase treated fans to a glimpse of early gameplay.

The new footage delved into the game’s story and characters.  We meet Humphry, our unlikely hero, who’s forced out of retirement when a shadowy figure from his past threatens Albion.  Choice, a core tenet of the Fable series, appears to be back in a big way, though specifics remain under wraps for now.  Get ready to forge your own path and shape the fate of Albion when Fable arrives in 2025!

Age of Mythology: Retold

Age of Mythology: Retold, a stunning reimagining of the classic real-time strategy game, is locked in for a September 4th release on PC and Xbox. Get ready to command legendary heroes and mythical creatures as you rewrite the legends!

Doom: The Dark Ages

The rumours were true – id Software unleashed Doom: The Dark Ages at the Xbox Games Showcase.  This brutal new entry rips and tears its way back in time, dropping the Doom Slayer into a dark fantasy realm.

This prequel unleashes the Slayer’s fury on a medieval world teeming with nightmarish creatures. Expect the signature gore and mayhem, but with a twisted fantasy twist.  And yes, you can ride a cybernetic dragon – what more could a Slayer ask for?

Doom: The Dark Ages launches in 2025 and brings the carnage to Xbox (including Game Pass), PC, and PlayStation 5.  Prepare to conquer a new kind of hell when the Slayer returns!
