Over the last decade LG has had a tough time in the mobile market. However, we have always commended them on their willingness to experiment. Due to their troubles, they have suggested they may be exiting the smartphone market as a whole, but have recently committed to make their experiments work. The most exciting of these is the LG rollable phone, following on from the interesting LG Wing.

The LG rollable smartphone has received the certifications it needs to launch to the market, which means it is around the corner. While the certification doesn’t reveal any specifications of the upcoming device, it does highlight the phone’s model number – LM-R910N – and product name – LG Rollable. The certification also mentions that this is the “end product,” meaning its imminent launch is upon us.
It is thought that the LG Rollable has a 7.4-inch rollable display and will work in multiple aspect ratios. This would mean that the device could be used in multiple states of ‘rollability,’ so more than just completely unrolled or completely rolled up. It has been rumoured it will have a phone mode with 2428 × 1080 pixel resolution and a 20:9 aspect ratio. You could also get a Video mode that might have a 2428 × 1366 pixel resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio. Similarly, it could also include a Productivity mode with 2428 × 1600 pixel resolution and a 3:2 aspect ratio.
It is set to be a high-end device, with 16GB or RAM. It will be powered by the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset, with a 4,200mAh battery.
We expect the device to be revealed within the next month or two and be available to purchase by the middle of 2021.
The rollable device could be the answer to many of the problems facing foldables, and we can’t wait to explore the possibilities.
