LG to partner with Goliath Gaming for good cause

As part of its 2020 OLED range launch, LG is set to partner with Goliath Gaming to bring gaming fans the ultimate showmatch involving Mzansi’s top FIFA players. Julio ”Beast” Bianchi and Thabo “Yvng Savage” Moloi, two of South Africa’s top FIFA players, are all set to form part of the match and battle it out in a best of 3 FIFA21 showmatch on Saturday 10 October 2020.

“LG’s 2020 OLED TVs pair superior picture quality with new gaming features for the most exhilarating interactive experience imaginable”, says Lance  Berger, Head of Sales Home Entertainment at LG South Africa.

For those wanting to be part of the action, the good news is you’ll be able to stream it all live on Twitch. Each player is competing for their share of R20 000 for a charity or do-good entity of their choice. It doesn’t end there as there’s more prize money set to be given away, specifically:

  • R10 000 for the winning player
  • R5 000 the runner up
  • R5 000 for one lucky person who tunes in to the showmatch stream for a charity or do-good entity of their choice too

‘Beast will be representing Norwood Central Primary School who does incredible work to provide food and support to children in the community. Yvng Savage will be representing the Kolisi Foundation (run by fellow Red Bull athlete Siya Kolisi and Rachel Kolisi) whose vision is to change the narrative of inequality for people in vulnerable and disadvantaged communities in South Africa.’

“As the first manufacturer to offer TVs that are officially NVIDIA G-SYNC® Compatible, LG has introduced 7 new OLED models supporting this essential gaming technology. G-SYNC ensures graphics are rendered perfectly, increasing players’ sense of immersion by adapting the TV’s refresh rate to the frame rate of the connected hardware. LG’s self-lit OLED technology employs the precision of individual pixel control to produce exceptional picture quality, low input lag and ultra-fast response time, for an immersive gaming experience without flicker or stuttering common to most displays. LG’s 2020 OLED and NanoCell TVs support the latest HDMI 2.1, making them future proof and compatible with the latest in gaming  technology such as VRR (variable refresh rate) ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) and eArc for high  definition audio,. With all of these features in mind, we’re very excited to see a showmatch between two of SA’s best competitive FIFA players play out on the world’s largest 88” 8K OLED TV – retailing at R450 000,” says Berger.

The showmatch will also include two hosts coming in the shape of Sam “Tech Girl” Wright and casted by Wasim “Wass” Rajah.
