Missions to Mars are creeping ever closer. Soon it will no longer be a figment of science fiction but a reality of science fact. Therefore it makes sense that we’re seeing ever more stories being told about what that journey might look like. The stories are also becoming more diverse – from action, to comedy and drama, like Away from Netflix.

The new series from Netflix hopes to tell it in a new and interesting way. Away will premiere on Netflix on September 4th, and will star Academy Award winner Hilary Swank.
The show is created by the crew behind narrative driven stories like Parenthood and Friday Night Lights. It will tell the story of a crew of astronauts chosen to be the first mission to Mars, but touches on the drama and strain it will put on the families that are left behind. Of course, there are many dangers in space that they will face, but those on Earth also have their trials and trepidations.
The level of talent in the wider cast is impressive. Josh Charles of The Good Wife fame is a key supporting role, and he’s fantastic. The rest of the supporting cast have also had notable big ticket roles on other shows.
