The Google Chromecast has been a go-to for many to stream content to their televisions from any connected device. That being said, it has never been a fully-fledged standalone streaming box like the Apple TV and others. This is set to change with the incoming Android TV streaming device codenamed Sabrina.

Those not familiar with the upcoming Android TV streaming device may confuse it for a new version of the Chromecast, as it does retain the same aesthetic. Official product renders have leaked showing that the new Google device will be more oblong in shape, but still with the pebble form.
This new Android TV streaming device will have its own remote, unlike every Chromecast in the past. While controlling the device from the Android app is intuitive enough, many have asked for a remote to control it directly on the TV screen rather than through the connected device.
There will be three colour options – black, white and light pink – all similar to what was launched in the Pixel devices in the past. Its innards will also be different to the Chromecast of the past. It is said to pack an Amlogic chip and will also support Dolby Vision.
While we don’t know when exactly it will be launched, it makes sense for the Google to reveal it at their Google I/O event. Their less flashy hardware launches is usually launched at this mostly software-based event. Rumoured pricing is an affordable $69.
The remote itself will have a clean and sleek design, much like Google’s other hardware offerings. It has the candy bar design, with rounded buttons (one of which will be specifically to engage Google Assistant). The leaked renders only reveal the top half of the remote, however, so there could be more than in the image above.
