A new report suggests that Apple will move to pay homage to the original iPhone with a reminiscent, curved design featuring on the iPhone 8.
While we’ve heard many speculators posit that Apple’s next iPhone might be a refreshing break from the aluminum unibody design we’ve seen over the past several years, a new report cites that the Cupertino company’s next handset might be endearingly referential to the very first phone Steve Jobs unveiled in 2007.
While every one of Apple’s handsets has since the introduction of the iPhone 4 sported flat sides, ETNews reports that the company’s next handset will carry curved (3D) glass panels that will render the device a smooth fit in the hand.

This might well equate to a design that doesn’t fit entirely flush on a flat surface, and might even be prone to some movement thanks to its curved corners. The device – though inspired by Apple’s original handset – will likely feature a far larger display in line with the incumbent Plus series, though we might be able to expect a smaller form factor thanks to reduced bezels.
Further changes might include the reduction or overall elimination of the camera bump which has been present since the introduction of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, though we unfortunately don’t have any clarification in that regard
The return to form will highlight not only the original iPhone’s design, but further that of the 3G and 3GS. As some rumours have indicated the likelihood that Apple might release an ‘Anniversary’ iPhone next to an ‘8 and 8 Plus’ duo, it remains to be seen which handset will inherit what.
