Facebook has quietly added a new endorsement feature through which anyone can publicly show their support for a US presidential candidate.
As if everyone’s preference for which US presidential candidate wasn’t a hot enough topic, Facebook has now leapt into the arena by quietly introducing a new ‘endorsement’ feature through which anyone can publicly support a candidate of their choice.
If you’d rather not publicly broadcast your political leanings, there’s the option to do that as well – users will be able to hide their views from specific people or groups of people. Once posted, an endorsement goes out to your selected audience’s news feeds, where text can be added to go along with it.

Should a user choose to make their endorsement entirely public, it could be displayed on a selected candidate’s page – thus far, endorsements can be made for Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump, Gary Johnson, Jill Stein, or Barack Obama – though the incumbent president certainly isn’t running for office this year.
To endorse a US presidential candidate, one first needs to visit the official (verified) page of the candidate of their choice, and head down to the Endorsement tab on the right-hand side of their page. From there, users can select Endorse to create their post, select the audience that they wish the post to be available to, and ultimately publish it.
We foresee that much turmoil between friends and family is set to follow on the social network now that one can publicly endorse a presidential candidate.
