Upcoming Nintendo NX console design leaked

A major leak surfaced on the web regarding the upcoming Nintendo NX console. We investigate the rumours and determine what the console could look like!

Whilst Nintendo has been riding high on the Pokemon Go wave people might be forgiven not to remember that the company also has a highly anticipated console set to be revealed. A new report has surfaced, citing multiple sources, which reveals details on what Nintendo’s next console, the Nintendo NX, will look like.

According to a report from the Eurogamer the new console will primarily be a handheld device which you can plug into a base station to convert it into a TV enabled console. You will then also have the option to connect controllers to complete the classic TV-Console setup. When used as a handheld console it will have two detachable controller sections which can be removed if required. When removed the console has a stand which can be folded out (see image).

Another reported feature is that the NX will use cartridges to carry its games, much like the 3DS today. This makes sense given that the console will be primarily a handheld but we think digital downloads will also be available. The console will be driven by a Nvidia Tegra mobile processor (as seen in the Nvidia Shield), which is a departure from current generation consoles who all house AMD chips.

These rumours sure paint Nintendo’s next console as a bold move but at the same time they are still following their handheld device legacy. The console is set to be released in September, so in the meantime you have a few weeks to catch those Pokemon!
