PC gamers may not have to face an agonizingly long wait to play Grand Theft Auto 6. According to industry sources cited by GamesBeat, Rockstar Games is targeting a first-quarter 2027 release for the PC version of its flagship title, arriving just months after its scheduled console debut on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on 19 November.

If accurate, the reported timeline represents a major shift in Rockstar’s traditional platform rollout strategy. Historically, the developer has delayed PC ports by well over a year. Grand Theft Auto 5, for instance, launched on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013, but did not arrive on PC until April 2015. A launch in early 2027 would reduce that gap to just a few months.
The anticipated arrival of GTA 6 on PC is expected to send ripple effects across the broader games industry. Major publishers have already adjusted fall release schedules to avoid direct competition with the console launch, and similar delays could occur in early 2027 as studios seek to avoid launching alongside the PC release. High-profile titles currently slated for early 2027 include Stranger Than Heaven, Metroid Ravenous, Until Dawn 2, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, God of War Laufey, and Fable.
Rockstar remains quiet regarding official details for the game’s online multiplayer component, though Twitch CEO Dan Clancy recently publicly claimed that multiplayer features will go live next year.
Industry analysts suggest the timing of the PC release could be directly tied to Rockstar’s online strategy. The wildly popular GTA 5 roleplaying community relies exclusively on PC infrastructure, and Rockstar integrated roleplaying server options directly into its native PC launcher following its acquisition of FiveM creator Cfx.re. Aligning the multiplayer rollout with the PC release would allow Rockstar to launch its next-generation online ecosystem across all platforms simultaneously.
