SanDisk’s iXpand Memory Case offers an iPhone up to 128GBs of additional storage space in a hard plastic protective shell.
If you’re an iPhone user, you’ve likely groused about one of two eventualities; your battery is nearly depleted, or you’re running out of storage space. If you find yourself in the latter camp, SanDisk’s iXpand Memory Case offers an interesting solution.
Packing up to 128GBs of additional storage space, the iXpand Memory Case takes its inspiration from SanDisk’s iXpand series of flash drives, which connect to an iPhone through a Lightning jack to offer quick file transfers.

The iXpand Memory Case offers storage in three tiers; the entry level 32GB model retails for $60 USD, the 64GB version for $100 USD, and the top-of-the-line 128GB device retails for $130 USD. The case arrives in different colours – namely grey, sky (blue), mint (green), and red, and ships alongside a dedicated app which serves as a file organiser.
The iXpand Memory Case doesn’t just offer additional storage; the unit further provides protection from impact, accommodating a hard outer plastic shell coupled with a rubber interior.
The case can be outfitted with an optional $40 USD battery module, which adds an additional capacity of 1,900mAh to an iPhone; nearly doubling the battery capacity of an iPhone 6S by slotting into the case’s two rear windows. If you love iOS but like the concept of modular design, this could be as close as it gets for now.
As far as software features go, the case – through its dedicated app – can provide an automatic camera roll backup and offer password-protection to preserve sensitive files.
