OnePlus 3 launches with powerful specs and a $416 USD price tag

OnePlus has officially launched its new flagship, the OnePlus 3, which comes armed with top-tier specifications and an affordable price tag.

OnePlus has cemented its reputation by offering premium-grade smartphones at affordable price points, and the company’s new flagship – the OnePlus 3 – has gone a step above and beyond that to offer one of the best budget options we’ve seen in a while.
Thankfully, OnePlus has decided to ditch its frustrating invite system, meaning that consumers will be able to purchase the OnePlus 3 as they would a traditional smartphone; from the company itself or a retailer.

The OnePlus 3 offers a 5.5″ AMOLED display with a 1080p resolution and runs on a Snapdragon 820 chip with 6GB of RAM. While the device has non-expandable storage, it arrives with a suitable 64GB which should hopefully please everyone.
Further, the device offers a 16-megapixel front-facing primary camera which is capable of 4K video capture and bears an 8-megapixel secondary camera with 1080p video capture capabilities.
Lastly, a fingerprint sensor, notification light, dual-SIM connectivity, NFC, and a 3,000mAh battery round out the package, which will arrive running Android 6.0.1 with OnePlus’ Oxygen launcher.

The OnePlus 3 – as previous leaks suggested – leaves OnePlus’ traditional design language behind and adopts a new form factor which is oddly reminiscent of HTC‘s recent smartphones. OnePlus has touted its new Dash phone charger, which it claims will charge its new phone to 63% in just half an hour by enabling the phone’s power management system to transfer priority to the Dash charging unit.
The device is expected to retail for approximately $416 USD, or ₹27,999 INR in India, where the device will first go on sale.
