The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt wins Game of the Year

Witcher 3 has scooped the top award at the 2016 Game Developers Conference, taking home the title of Game of the Year for CD Projekt Red.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has walked away with the top honours from the Game Developers Choice Awards, raking in the accolade for Game of the Year for 2015.
The Game Developers Choice Awards was hosted this year by Robin Hunicke, one of the producers of Journey.

CD Projekt Red’s magnum opus further received the award for Best Technology, beating out the likes of Fallout 4, Bloodborne, and Rocket League.
The game managed to beat out the likes of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and Fallout 4, joining the ranks of previous titles such as the Lord of the Rings title Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor, which took home the award last year.
The Witcher 3 was a fan-favourite win this year, and is the conclusion of Geralt of Rivia’s adventures adapted from the series of novels by Andrzej Sapkowski.
The game itself was praised for its gameplay, mechanics, and engrossing story, as well as developer CD Projekt Red’s inclusion of 12 free DLC packs and a thank you note at launch. The game has so far been supplemented with three DLC add-ons, each with its own narrative and side quests.
