Without further ado, let’s explore the best wearable devices of 2016 so far:
Best Wearables of 2016
Huawei Watch (Ladies)
We’d be lying if we said that we weren’t already smitten with the Huawei Watch following our first introduction to the wearable at AfricaCom this year. Now, Huawei has introduced a new line of their flagship smartwatch aimed at the fairer sex.
Its design, uniquely feminine and stately, is greatly appealing to us – and, coupled with the (presumed) men’s version, we feel that Huawei has shown other contenders in the Android Wear ring how it’s done. Whether sales will justify this claim remains to be seen.
Best Wearables of 2016
Apple Watch, first revision
We have a love hate relationship with the Apple Watch. We dislike it as well it lacks features that should have been included on Apple’s first attempt at a wearable, but love it for its premium design and integration with iOS.
While we might not see an Apple Watch 2.0 this year, we might see an Apple Watch revision, and we predict, despite some hesitation, that Apple will continue to dominate in the wearables market following conquering over 50% of the market in 2015.
Best Wearables of 2016
UA Band
HTC’s debut effort in collaboration with Under Armor took us by surprise, but not an unwelcome one. Born to challenge the dominance of Withings, Misfit and Jawbone, HTC’s newest fitness tracker might be a new kid on the block, but we feel that it already has the pedigree to quickly rival established names.
We anticipate that the UA Band will be a greater critical success rather than it become a commercial one, but we remain hopeful for the product this year.
Best Wearables of 2016

Casio WSD-F10
There’s something to be said for an eloquent product name, and admittedly, Casio‘s latest foray into the smartwatch realm isn’t blessed with the greatest moniker around.
However, Casio’s efforts with the Outdoor Watch WSD-F10 likely won’t go unrecognized thanks to Casio’s history in producing excellent wrist-worn watches, and it’s one we’re eager to test out following its formal release later this year.
Best Wearables of 2016
Fitbit Blaze
Fitbit are arguably one of the three kings of the fitness tracker realm, next to the likes of Jawbone and Withings. The Blaze is the company’s latest foray into fitness trackers.
We dubbed it as the company’s smartest, most stylish and most motivating product yet, and we’re eager to see how the market reacts to Fitbit’s premium effort.
