Google have elected to delve into your social life with the release of Who’s Down; a new social networking tool that enables users to see which of their friends or family is available to hang out.
As the name of the app might imply, Who’s Down enables users to toggle their status to imply that they are free to spend time with their friends or family; toggling ‘Who’s Down’ to on sets a user’s personal status to ‘on’ for three hours; natural time for a coffee meetup or general hangout.
Users who are set as ‘Down’ to engage in free time are able to see contacts who are also available, and are able to exchange instant messages within the app.
However, Google hasn’t seen fit to release Who’s Down to the general public as yet; the app is presently only available to college students in the US who are required to join a waiting list before joining.
Google’s small-scale rollout is met on both iOS and the Play Store, and interestingly enough recalls the global rollout of Facebook across university campuses first. Google have, so far, not offered any official comment on when Who’s Down will see a general release.
