Mophie launches waterproof iPhone 6 battery case

Apple has never gone for the waterproof smartphone, opting for style over function. Now however you can convert you iPhone into a waterproof device, and the kicker – add a serious amount of extra battery power to your device. Maybe I should have led with that fact…
No, this isn’t some far fetched smartphone dream. Mophie has introduced the Juice Pack H2OPro that will extend your phone’s battery and make sure it runs again after being dunked.
The Juice Pack H2OPro, first of its type in Mophie’s battery case line-up, sports an IP68-rated waterproofing “” immersible in 1.2 meters of water for 30 minutes “” as well as strong dust, drop, and shock resistance.
The case is made from black plastic with a flexible, scratch-resistant clear front that provides both Touch ID and multi-touch screen access, H2Pro includes the complete button and port protection users would expect from a waterproof case, plus a 2,750mAh battery that Mophie promises will deliver a full 100% recharge for the iPhone 6.
Juice Pack H2Pro is currently available for pre-order in the US and will ship in late May for around $130, at which point it will likely be the first actually available waterproof battery for the iPhone 6. Mophie’s other Juice Pack battery cases for iPhones have received positive reviews around the web. So hopefully by the time it reaches SA shores we will know whether this is a must have accessory or just another gimmicky smartphone case.
