Just about anything you can think of these days is getting the “˜smart‘ treatment. Everything from smart chopsticks to smart cups is being created ““ the mundane household items we are all used to will never be the same. Now, luggage maker Samsonite has joined the fray.
It seems that the latest everyday item to get the smart treatment is luggage, in a joint venture between Samsung and Samsonite.
The “˜smart bags‘ will be easy to come by and include location and mobile notification features. These features will include GPS tracking, anti-tampering alerts and warnings when you leave the bag behind. The bags will also check themselves in at the airport ““ they will tell the airport about your airline, the weight and your destination.
Once again, the first question that springs to mind is: Do we need this? Of course not, but it sounds pretty cool right?
