Today is a good, no make it great day for Android Wear. The Cupertino boys officially revealed the Apple Watch types and prices at their “Spring Forward” event. Needless to say the Samsung, Motorola and LG teams are high-fiving each other after Apple revealed their crazy Apple Watch prices.
You will be able to buy (or finance) one of three Apple Watch types, the Apple Watch Sport, Apple Watch and Apple Watch Edition. Here is all you need to know about pricing… The Apple Watch goes on pre-order on April 10. And in the usual Apple style the actual ‘on sale’ date lands two weeks later on April 24. This is the standard delay Apple puts into its mobile devices. This enables Apple to make sure they can meet the demand.
The Apple Watch Sport version will cost $349 for the smaller 38mm version and $399 for the larger 42mm model. The stainless steel Watch will start at $549 for the 38mm, while the 42mm will begin at $599. The 18-karat gold Apple Watch Edition, meanwhile, will start at a whopping $10,000. If you had as much difficulty trying to understand those numbers don’t even start thinking what these watches will cost in SA. We are looking at about R4000 (cheapest model) to about R110 000+ for the Apple Watch Edition.
Crazy, bonkers, insane… I am a big Apple fan, but I won’t be buying an Apple Watch soon (if at all). Let us know what you think about these prices.
