Not many of us will have the opportunity in to experience the immense beauty of the Amazon rainforest in our lifetime. While it may be a tick on the bucket list for many, the reality is that it might not ever happen.
Luckily, there is one way that you can, sort of, experience the wonder, all in the comfort of your own home, thanks to a little thing called Google Street View.
Google Street View is an amazing tool that allows you to explore various places on Earth, virtually. Sure, you‘re not there in person, but it‘s as close as you will get to the real deal.
Google‘s Street View tool already allows you to explore famed landmarks such as the pyramids in Egypt, and now you will be able to see a unique, first hand view of the massive Amazon rainforest.
While Google Street View has been showcasing the Amazon for the past three years, the tech giant has one upped themselves recently by showing the world a (almost literal) birds eye-view of the famed forest.
Now, Google has actually attached their special Street View cameras to a zipline that runs across the tree tops of the Amazon – thus giving the user an extremely unique, first hand view of the Amazon from above. Something that has never been done before.
These cameras travel a top the trees of the Amazon at amazing speeds; reaching up to 100km an hour in some areas. So you can literally pretend you‘re a chimp jumping from tree to tree.
The project was launched in association with the Amazonas Sustainable Foundation and is also an effort on their part to showcase the rainforest‘s natural beauty in order to conserve it better.
