Oh, how far the mighty have fallen.
Samsung was the undisputed champion of the smartphone world only but a couple of months ago, but has steadily been losing market share all over the world over the last 18 months. Nowhere is the supremacy of Samsung as evident as in China.
Sure, it wasn‘t one of Samsung‘s strongest markets in the same time period, but 12 months ago it was still firmly in the number one spot when it came to smartphone sales in the massive market of China. It had 18.8% of the market share in that country in 2013Q4, topping the pile of a vast number of companies selling smartphones, but has slid to a meagre 7.9 in 2014Q4. This makes it the fifth ““ you read that right ““ 5th largest smartphone manufacturer in China.
It has seen a massive 50% decline in market share in only 12 months. Do you think this trend will continue in the rest of the world, or can they recover starting with the Galaxy S6? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
