Quarter of a trillion photos uploaded to Facebook

While Facebook tries to expand to emerging markets by assisting in getting people in these countries online with Internet.org, it has apparently reached another milestone. Facebook used its photo volume as a case study about making pages and apps more efficient. And in this report from the social networking giant, we find some staggering numbers.
Every day, Facebook‘s active users ““ standing at 1.15 billion at the moment ““ upload about 350 million photos every day. This activity has brought the grand total to 250 billion photos since the site‘s launch. That is just part of the picture (sorry), though.
According to Facebook, 4.75 billion total pieces of content ““ which includes photos, status updates and comments ““ are posted every day. In the same period, 10 billion messages are sent and 4.5 “˜Likes‘ are submitted. All this activity absolutely dwarfs anything else out there, from Twitter to Instagram to Flickr.
