Xiaomi sub-brand Poco has announced its latest high-spec smartphone, the Poco F9 Ultra. Positioned as a value-driven flagship alternative, the device highlights the aggressive hardware strategies of Chinese phone manufacturers. Sporting a refined design with an eye-catching Dark Cherry red colourway and camera sensors mounted flush against the back panel, the F9 Ultra features a 6.9-inch AMOLED display with a gaming-grade 185Hz refresh rate paired with 2.1-channel Bose-branded audio.

Under the hood, the F9 Ultra retains the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset alongside Poco’s proprietary VisionBoost D8 co-processor, which uses AI models to enhance image detail and dynamic scene rendering. To keep thermals managed under intense workloads, Poco included its LiquidCool technology to reduce processor temperatures by up to three degrees Celsius. This cooling performance supports the device’s WildBoost engine, which Poco claims can boost frame rates by 65 frames per second, driving up to 24 supported games at a native 185 FPS.
One of the smartphone’s most notable upgrades is its massive 8,050mAh battery, a significant leap from the 6,500mAh cell used in its predecessor. The battery supports 100W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging with compatible accessories. For photography, the F9 Ultra equips a 200-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultrawide sensor, and a 5x optical-zoom periscope telephoto lens. While official global pricing will be finalized during Poco’s formal launch event, company spokespeople confirmed the device will retail for under $800.
