“Apple Pay is an easy, secure, and private way to pay in-store, online, and even in your favourite apps. Now available with your Bank Zero card on your iPhone,” the bank stated. This integration means customers can now confidently leave their physical wallets at home, making purchases directly from their Apple devices.

How to Add Your Bank Zero Card to Apple Pay

Bank Zero has outlined two convenient methods for adding your card to Apple Pay:

1. Directly through the Bank Zero App:

  • Sign in to the Bank Zero App.
  • Tap on the Card menu item.
  • Tap on the Google Pay (this appears to be a mislabel in the provided text, likely intended for Apple Pay integration path) menu item.
  • On the next page, you’ll see an image of your card with an “Add to Apple Wallet” button.
  • Tap the button and follow the on-screen instructions.

2. Through the Apple Wallet App:

  • Launch the Apple Wallet app.
  • Tap the Add (+) icon.
  • Select Debit or Credit Card to add a new card.
  • Tap Continue and follow the screen prompts.

Expanding Payment Options

This launch follows an announcement by Bank Zero chairman Michael Jordaan in January 2024, where he indicated the bank was actively working on various new features, including integrating smartphone wallets for tap payments. While he didn’t specify platforms at the time, common choices like Google Pay, Apple Pay, and Samsung Pay were anticipated.

This move comes after Bank Zero previously enabled Google Pay support for its Android customers in November 2024. A Bank Zero spokesperson had also confirmed that the company was evaluating all phone payment options, with plans for watch payment support to follow. Interestingly, Garmin Pay is also available in South Africa and is supported by most traditional banks in the country.

Bank Zero’s continuous expansion of digital payment options reinforces its commitment to providing convenient and secure banking experiences for its growing customer base.
