“This update provides greater flexibility, allowing customers to watch what they want, when they want,” DStv stated. DStv Stream standalone subscribers will also benefit from the additional stream.
This enhancement builds upon DStv Stream’s recent upgrades, including cloud PVR functionality, improved “Watch from Start,” a refreshed interface with personalized recommendations, enhanced stability, and AI-driven content suggestions. Parental control features for kids’ profiles have also been added.
“As more households utilize second screens, the return of the second stream is great news for families,” MultiChoice said, highlighting the benefit for sports fans and general entertainment enthusiasts.
DStv emphasizes its robust sports offering, including record-breaking UEFA Champions League coverage, and its extensive library of on-demand content and live channels.
“Entertainment lovers can utilize the second stream to enjoy movies, series, or reality shows, while others in the household watch their preferred dramas,” DStv explained.
DStv Premium subscribers, who already receive Showmax at no extra cost, now have access to a total of four concurrent streams (two DStv and two Showmax). DStv Compact subscribers can also add Showmax at a discount, achieving the same four-stream capability.
MultiChoice South Africa CEO Byron du Plessis stated, “With shifting viewing habits and growing connectivity, it’s the right time to bring back the second stream.” He highlighted the growth of the DStv Stream platform, noting its availability to satellite customers and as a standalone streaming option.
“With the return of the second stream, our customers have more opportunities to engage with the content they love,” du Plessis concluded.
