YouTube has revealed that viewers are now spending more time watching YouTube on their televisions than on their mobile devices. This significant milestone, highlighted in the company’s annual letter, underscores the evolving landscape of television consumption.

YouTube’s strategic enhancements to its TV app, including features like side-by-side video and comment viewing, “seasons” for easier series navigation, and the “Watch With” feature for real-time commentary, have significantly enhanced the viewing experience.
“For more and more people, watching TV means watching YouTube,” stated YouTube CEO Neal Mohan. This shift reflects the evolving definition of television, encompassing interactive features like Shorts, podcasts, and live streams alongside traditional content.
YouTube TV, despite a recent price increase, continues to grow, boasting over 8 million subscribers. YouTube Premium and Music subscriptions also remain strong, surpassing 100 million.
Moving forward, YouTube plans to further enhance its offerings, including improvements to YouTube TV features like Key Plays and multiview, and introducing new benefits for YouTube Premium subscribers.
This announcement solidifies YouTube’s position as a dominant force in the entertainment landscape, demonstrating the platform’s adaptability and ability to cater to evolving consumer preferences.
