While the Raspberry Pi 5, despite its impressive capabilities, struggles to emulate PS3 games at their native resolution and framerate, it’s still a remarkable feat. The emulator can achieve a locked 30FPS, albeit with a significant downgrade in visual quality.
On more powerful hardware like Apple M1 chips, RPCS3 can deliver a much better performance, allowing for higher resolutions and smoother gameplay. This achievement is particularly impressive considering the complexity of the PlayStation 3’s architecture.
This development marks a new era of emulation, pushing the boundaries of what is possible on ARM-based devices. While RPCS3 isn’t the first emulator to support ARM64, it is certainly one of the most ambitious and technically demanding.
