The o1 model, initially launched in limited preview as “o1-preview” (code-named Strawberry) in September, is now available in its full form. Starting today, ChatGPT Plus and Team users can access the enhanced model, while Enterprise and Edu users will gain access next week. Compared to its preview version, o1 boasts faster, more accurate performance, improved coding and math capabilities, and the ability to generate reasoning-based responses to images. OpenAI also promises more concise answers, resulting in quicker response times.

Alongside this update, OpenAI is unveiling ChatGPT Pro, a new $200-per-month subscription tier. Pro users will receive unlimited access to o1, GPT-4o, and Advanced Voice Mode. Additionally, the Pro tier includes o1 Pro Mode, an exclusive version of o1 designed to handle the most complex queries by utilizing more computing power. OpenAI will continue to offer the Plus tier for $20 per month, which includes early access to new features and all models except the advanced o1 Pro Mode.

Future enhancements to ChatGPT are also in the pipeline, including support for web browsing and file uploads, although no specific timeline has been announced.

To further support innovation, OpenAI has introduced the ChatGPT Pro Grant Program. The program will initially provide 10 grants of ChatGPT Pro to medical researchers at leading institutions, with plans to expand grants to other disciplines in the future.

With these updates, OpenAI aims to provide tailored options for users ranging from casual to professional, while continuing to expand ChatGPT’s capabilities across diverse fields.
