LG launches a 480Hz OLED gaming display

LG has made a significant leap in gaming monitor technology with the introduction of its UltraGear GX7. This 27-inch QHD OLED display boasts an impressive 480Hz refresh rate and a lightning-fast 0.03-millisecond response time, making it the fastest QHD OLED monitor on the market.

To ensure smooth and tear-free gameplay, the GX7 supports both NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync technologies. It also meets the VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 standard, delivering deep blacks, wide colour gamut, and excellent anti-glare properties.

Connectivity options include HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.1 ports, along with a headphone jack. While these interfaces don’t natively support 480Hz at 1440p, the GX7 utilizes Display Stream Compression (DSC) technology to achieve this high refresh rate with modern NVIDIA and AMD GPUs.

The monitor’s sleek, height-adjustable stand offers flexibility for optimal viewing angles. However, with a price tag of $1,000, the GX7 is positioned as a premium gaming display. While it’s slightly more affordable than Sony’s InZone M10S, it lacks some of the additional gaming features offered by Sony’s model.

LG has yet to provide specific details on pre-orders and shipping dates for the UltraGear GX7, but gamers eagerly await the opportunity to experience this cutting-edge display.
