The Mix Flip marks Xiaomi’s first foray into the flip phone foldable market. It boasts what the company claims to be the largest external display on a flip phone yet, measuring 4.01 inches and featuring a near bezel-less design. This display, larger than competitors like the Motorola Razr Plus 2024 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6, even includes its own earpiece and microphone for calls without unfolding the phone.

However, a portion of this sizeable screen is dedicated to a dual camera system: a 50MP main sensor with optical image stabilization and a 50MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. Unfolding the Mix Flip reveals a large 6.86-inch main display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate.

Under the hood, the Mix Flip packs a powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor with up to 16GB of RAM and a whopping 1TB of storage. A 4,780mAh battery keeps things going, supported by 67W fast wired charging. While wireless charging details are yet to be confirmed.

The Mix Fold 4 offers an upgrade to its predecessor, boasting the same powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor with up to 1TB of storage and 16GB of RAM. Notably, it joins the ranks of the Google Pixel Fold and recent Samsung Galaxy Z Fold models by achieving an IPX8 water resistance rating, protecting it from submersion. However, dust resistance remains absent.

The Mix Fold 4 also boasts a larger 5,100mAh battery with support for 50W wireless charging alongside 67W fast wired charging. The hinge design has been significantly improved, being 34% narrower and 16% lighter, contributing to the phone’s overall weight reduction of 29 grams compared to the Mix Fold 3. With a closed thickness of 9.47mm and an unfolded thickness of just 4.59mm, the Mix Fold 4 is currently thinner than its Samsung and Google competitors.

The internal display has been shrunk slightly to 7.98 inches while offering a resolution bump to 2488 x 2224 pixels. The external 6.56-inch 1080p cover display remains the same size. The camera system on the back features a familiar 50MP main sensor and 12MP ultrawide sensor from the previous model, but it gains an improved 50MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom and a 10MP periscope lens with 5x optical zoom.

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 starts at ¥8,999 (around $1,237) for the base model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, reaching ¥10,999 (around $1,512) for the top-tier 16GB RAM and 1TB storage option. Colour choices include black, white, and blue.

The Mix Flip starts at a more affordable ¥5,999 (around $825) for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage version, available in white, purple, or black. The price jumps to ¥7,299 (around $1,004) for the 16GB RAM and 1TB storage configuration.

As with previous Xiaomi foldable phones, there’s no official confirmation regarding a global release for these models outside of China.
