MrBeast becomes most subscribed channel on YouTube

Bollywood music label T-Series held the title of the most-subscribed YouTube channel for years after Felix Kjellberg, also known as PewDiePie, ended his contentious battle for the top spot. However, YouTuber Jimmy Donaldson, famously known as MrBeast, has now taken that honour. Donaldson announced yesterday that his MrBeast YouTube channel had ‘avenged’ PewDiePie by surpassing T-Series.

This milestone seemingly triggered a surge in subscribers, as Donaldson shared a screenshot indicating he gained 2 million subscribers in a single day, setting a new one-day record for his channel. According to the online tracker Social Blade, MrBeast now boasts 268 million subscribers.

Donaldson had been a vocal supporter of Kjellberg’s campaign to maintain his number one position back in 2019, going as far as to cover every billboard in his town with ads promoting PewDiePie. He even attended the Super Bowl with friends wearing shirts that collectively spelled out “SUB 2 PEW DIE PIE.” Given MrBeast’s recent surge, gaining 2 million subscribers in a single day — a feat that took T-Series a month to achieve — it appears unlikely that T-Series will reclaim the top spot anytime soon.
