Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro 3 will offer real-time translation

The forthcoming Galaxy Buds 3 Pro from Samsung might incorporate an AI-powered, on-device real-time translation feature, as reported by Maeil Business Newspaper. Expected to hit the market in the second half of 2024, these earbuds are anticipated to leverage onboard AI for diverse functions, prominently including translation.

It’s noteworthy that Google’s Pixel Buds boast a similar capability, with the Live Translate feature requiring an internet connection, unlike the reported functionality of the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro. Samsung’s earbuds are purportedly capable of delivering accurate translations even without internet access.

According to the report, the on-device AI will not only facilitate translations in in-person conversations but also during voice and video calls. Sam Mobile highlights that Samsung has already unveiled a real-time translation feature for voice calls in the Galaxy S24, allowing seamless translation between the caller’s language and the user’s preferred language. Moreover, the Galaxy Buds Pro extends this functionality to encompass face-to-face conversations.

The introduction of such a feature in the Pro version indicates the potential integration of this functionality into more affordable models in the future. Samsung has a history of first implementing features in premium models like active noise cancellation and subsequently incorporating them into more budget-friendly options, as seen with the Galaxy Buds Pro.

Notably, features such as Hi-Fi audio codec, Bluetooth LE Audio, and Auracast were initially introduced in the Galaxy Buds Pro before being extended to cheaper models like the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro. This strategic approach suggests a pattern in Samsung’s product releases, with advanced features gradually trickling down to more accessible devices.
