Unless you’ve been living under a rock or something, by now most of you should be aware that Zack Snyder (300, Man of Steel, and Army of the Dead) is back with his latest project, Rebel Moon, set to grace our Netflix screens in two parts, 22 December 2023 (Part 1) and 19 April 2024 (Part 2).
Rebel Moon, is an epic science-fantasy event decades in the making. When a peaceful colony on the edge of a galaxy finds itself threatened by the armies of a tyrannical ruling force, Kora (Sofia Boutella), a mysterious stranger living among the villagers, becomes their best hope for survival. Tasked with finding trained fighters who will unite with her in making an impossible stand against the Mother World, Kora assembles a small band of warriors — outsiders, insurgents, peasants and orphans of war from different worlds who share a common need for redemption and revenge. As the shadow of an entire Realm bears down on the unlikeliest of moons, a battle over the fate of a galaxy is waged, and in the process, a new army of heroes is formed.
Below was the initial teaser trailer we got when it was first announced a couple of months ago…
And now, we have another trailer, released today, we can fully get stuck into and like we initially thought, everything about this one looks special and this new trailer further reinforces that…
Say what you want about the man but one thing is for sure, he knows what he’s good at and despite what some critics have said about his work, he manages to get it right. He may not be everyone’s cup of tea (the powers that be at DC Comics we especially see you) but he’s also, at the same time, managed to build a cult following. Many in fact have called for a reinstatement of the ‘Snyderverse’ and despite what he said, the chances of it happening are very slim to none, but us Snyder fans can still dream.
The key cast consists of Sofia Boutella, Djimon Hounsou, Ed Skrein, Michiel Huisman, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, with Charlie Hunnam and Anthony Hopkins as the voice of ‘Jimmy’. It also stars Staz Nair, Fra Fee, Cleopatra Coleman, Stuart Martin, Ingvar Eggert Sigurðsson, Alfonso Herrera, Cary Elwes, Rhian Rees, E. Duffy, Jena Malone, Sky Yang, Charlotte Maggi, Corey Stoll
Like most of its projects, Netflix has once again invested huge sums into this ambitious two-film project, with a total budget of $166 million. Rebel Moon has in fact been described by some as “Star Wars” meets “Dune” meets “Seven Samurai” which adds to the overall intrigue behind it. It’s one to definitely to look forward to next month and just in time for the holidays.
