This is what the RTX 4060 Ti costs in South Africa

Several South African online PC hardware stores have released pricing information for Nvidia’s latest graphics card, the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti. The GPU was announced alongside the RTX 4060 last week. The RTX 4060 Ti boasts around 10% faster performance in rasterized games compared to its predecessor, the RTX 3060 Ti. However, it has fewer Cuda cores (4,352 vs. 4,864) and a smaller memory bus (128-bit vs. 256-bit).

On the positive side, the RTX 4060 Ti introduces improved AI upscaling, AV1 encoding, and enhanced power efficiency. Despite these features, most reviewers have expressed disappointment with its performance. Linus Tech Tips found that the RTX 3060 Ti actually offered better performance in some games. Gamers Nexus even labeled it one of Nvidia’s worst GPU launches and criticized its performance at resolutions above 1080p.

Nevertheless, the RTX 4060 Ti’s 40% lower price compared to the RTX 4070, with only a 20% decrease in performance, may still appeal to Nvidia enthusiasts. The card is available in two video memory sizes: 8GB GDDR6 or 16GB GDDR6. Currently, only the 8GB version is available from well-known South African online PC hardware stores.

In the United States, the 8GB version has a manufacturer-suggested retail price (MSRP) of $399 (R7,670) before VAT. With South Africa’s 15% VAT added, the converted price is approximately R8,820. Wootware currently offers the most competitive prices among South African stores, with the Palit and Zotac 8GB dual-fan models priced at R9,699 and R9,999, respectively. This translates to a price difference of only R879 to R1,179 compared to the US MSRP, which is remarkably low considering shipping and foreign exchange costs.

Notably, the dual-fan Palit and Zotac RTX 3060 Ti cards, which offer similar performance, currently retail for R8,399 and R8,799 at the same store. Wootware also lists the MSI 8GB Ventus 3X at the lowest price of R11,799. Other brands available include Gigabyte and Asus, with several incoming cards listed without disclosed pricing.
