WhatsApp, the popular messaging platform used by billions of people, frequently introduces new updates with useful features. One of the most highly anticipated features is the ability to edit sent messages. Recent reports from WABetaInfo suggest that the edit button has made its way to the beta version of WhatsApp for Android.

Users on WhatsApp beta version 2.23.10.13 have reported being able to edit messages within groups and chats. According to a screenshot, the edit button is likely hidden under the three-dot menu that appears in the top right corner when a message is selected. While there seems to be no limit on how many times a message can be edited, there is a time limit of 15 minutes. After this time, WhatsApp will not allow further modifications to the message.

Similar to iMessage, WhatsApp will indicate whether a message has been edited or not by displaying an “edited” label within the message bubble. The 15-minute time limit is in place to ensure that the edit feature is primarily used for correcting typos and mistakes.
Currently, the edit feature is available to select beta testers and only supports text messages. However, WhatsApp may expand its functionality in the future. While no specific timeline has been provided for when the edit feature will be available to all users, you can try installing the WhatsApp beta for Android to see if it’s available on your device.
WhatsApp continues to enhance its platform with new features that improve the user experience. The ability to edit sent messages addresses a common need for users who want to correct errors or make changes after sending a message. Keep an eye out for updates from WhatsApp to learn when this feature will be rolled out to a wider audience.
