The Horizon universe is being expanded significantly. Fresh off of the release and acclaim of the Horizon: Forbidden West single player sequel to Horizon: Zero Dawn, there will soon be an expansion and a VR spinoff, as well as a live-action series adaptation of the source material. Guerrilla Games has announced that it is making at least two more games in the Horizon universe, including a standalone multiplayer title.

The announcement was made in a tweet, used to find more developers to work on these projects. According to the company, along with working on more “epic solo adventures for Aloy,” the star of the first two games, the studio has set up a separate team to create an “online project set in Horizon’s universe.”
The company has said that the multiplayer title will feature brand new characters and a “unique stylized look.” It also seems that there will definitely be a co-op mode for the new multiplayer title, rather than being PvP, due to the announcement that friends will be able to play together in this game.

Rumours had been swirling since last year that Guerrilla was planning a multiplayer Horizon game, and the studio has now confirmed that’s the case. There is also reportedly a Horizon MMO in development at NCSoft. The studio has expertise in the genre as it’s behind the Lineage and Guild War franchises. Sony also stated earlier this year that live-service games are a part of its future plans.
