You may not have heard about Nothing. It is a tech start-up from Carl Pei, who is perhaps best known for co-founding OnePlus. He has decided to debut the rear of the Nothing Phone 1 a month before official launch, citing the difficulty of stopping tech leaks as the main reason.

“Leaks are harder to contain nowadays and many of you have been waiting for a long time,” Pei wrote. “So here it is.” The phone is due to be properly announced on July 12th at Nothing’s next event.
As was the case with the first Nothing product, called the Nothing Ear Bluetooth earbuds, the Nothing Phone 1 follows a very simplistic design language. The phone has illuminating light strips on the rear of the phone, which appears to be made from transparent material. Interestingly, a logo can be seen on the centre of the rear of the phone, which almost looks like the silhouette of a cartoon version of an explosive device.

Other confirmed specs of the phone include a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, wireless charging, and a modified version of Android branded as Nothing OS. No doubt Nothing plans to slowly reveal more details ahead of the phone’s official announcement next month.
