After teasers earlier this year, DeLorean Motor Company (DMC) has revealed the first images of its upcoming EV called the Alpha5. It comes with gullwing doors and a traditional sports car design. To be clear, it won’t be built by the original DeLorean, but rather a Texas company that purchased the rights to the DeLorean name and spare parts.

The Alpha5 was designed by the legendary ItalDesign studio, from Giorgetto Giugiaro, which also designed the original DeLorean. The final car will be revealed in August with the first opportunity to see it in person. The Alpha5 is based on the “Medusa” concept that the original DeLorean company had been working on before it went bankrupt back in 1982.

The company has stated it intends to include a 100kWh battery pack that should provide excellent range, along with a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive setup. It’s projected to hit a top speed of 250 kph and go from 0 to 100 kph in 2.99 seconds.
