Republic of Gamers, or ROG, is ASUS’ gaming sub-brand that makes gaming focused laptops, peripherals and smartphones. Now, they also make gaming tablets. The ROG Flow Z13 is a sleek gaming tablet that packs in Intel’s new 12th-gen processors and up to NVIDIA’s RTX 3050 Ti. It is not meant to be the most portable of tablets, as it weighs more than 1kg, and won’t replace your media consumption tablets.

ASUS believes the ROG Flow Z13 is a way to bring your PC games everywhere without the need for a chunky gaming laptop. The Z13 can connect to the ASUS XG Mobile external GPU, which supports up to AMD’s Radeon RX 6850M in addition to NVIDIA’s mobile RTX 30-series line-up, of you want more grunt for your games.
The design language from the ROG Phone 5 has definitely been transferred over to the Z13. From the front, you could easily mistake it for a notebook. From the sides and back though, it’s more like a Microsoft Surface imagined by Arnold Schwarzenegger, with a flexible kickstand and keyboard cover.
It has a 4K 13-inch display (although were not quite sure what type of display yet), which is a decent size for this type of machine. It isn’t going to be the easiest tablet to use with a keyboard cover on the lap, though, due to the size and weight.
The Z13 also comes with both a USB 2.0 Type-A connection, as well two USB 3.2 Type-C ports, so your accessories can travel with you. There’s also a microSD card slot, which is useful for throwing in additional storage or offloading media.
Of course, we don’t have details about pricing or launch prices yet. That being said, don’t expect this tablet to be affordable.
