If you can’t quite manage the wait until the release of the third season of The Mandalorian, we’ve got good news – the saga’s first spin-off show, The Book of Boba Fett, is due to release on Disney+ on the 29th of December this year.
The titular Boba Fett is a favourite among Star Wars fans, having first made a debut in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, and where the character’s backstory was elaborated in Attack of the Clones.
Fett, of course, returned to the Star Wars saga in The Mandalorian’s second season, helping protagonist Din Djarin rescue Grogu from Moff Gideon.
In The Book of Boba Fett, Star Wars aims to explore its underworld and the void left by Jabba the Hutt. At the end of The Mandalorian’s second season, Fett and his companion, Fennec Shand, retook Jabba’s throne with the intent to rule in his stead.
The first trailer for the new show reveals that the series appears to be largely set in the sands of Tatooine, where Fett and Shand will go head-to-head with others seeking spoils from Jabba’s former criminal empire.
