Xiaomi’s Mi Mix 4 launches with an under-screen camera

Xiaomi’s first Mi Mix handset set tongues wagging for its unique (at the time) design, and now the Chinese marque has unveiled the fourth iteration of the device replete with its own under-screen selfie camera.

Touted as the brand’s slimmest ceramic unibody handset, the Mi Mix 4 has a 6.67″ display with a density of 400ppi. Underneath that screen, users will find a 20-megapixel selfie camera hidden seamlessly.

The move is part of a burgeoning trend amongst newer devices, and marks the first instance where the Mi Mix’s camera isn’t housed on a lofty chin or sliding module.

The device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888+ 5G processor and features 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage at the top end. On the back of the device, there’s a 108-megapixel main camera, 8-megapixel 5X optical zoom lens, and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide lens.

Among other features, the Mi Mix 4 also features 10-bit colour, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and a 120Hz refresh rate. There’s also stereo sound aboard that’s been tuned by Harmon/Kardon, as well as a large 4,500mAh battery.

The Mi Mix 4 will go on sale in China from August 16th and will retail from $770 USD upwards, and will be available in white, black, and grey.
