Microsoft’s Surface Duo 2 leaks out, reveals new camera

Not content with its first stab at a folding Android phone (then again, very few people were), Microsoft appears to be readying a second shot with leaks suggesting that the tidily named Surface Duo 2 will carry an enhanced camera array, among other features.

According to Tech Rat, a leak purportedly shows a redesigned Surface Duo with an array consisting of three cameras – that is, a standard, telephoto, and ultra-wide lens. In addition, other design tweaks include a fingerprint sensor overlayed atop a power button.

Internally, the Surface Duo 2 would reportedly use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 chipset in addition to 5G and NFC support. Cosmetically, the device would apparently ship in slate black as well.

The device would apparently be available from September or October this year – though it remains unclear as to how Microsoft plans to position the device given that its forebear drew criticism for its $1,399 launch price.

With luck, the device will be a more convincing affair – and will hopefully entice users who have been otherwise ensnared by Samsung’s range of foldable phones.
