Samsung and Google are set to tie the knot next week Tuesday, where the two will debut a new smartwatch product that will roll together the best parts of Samsung’s Tizen platform and Google’s Wear OS. However, it appears that some of the event’s thunder may have been stolen by leakers who may have revealed what the South Korean company’s next smartwatch could look like.
Apparently dubbed the Galaxy Watch Active 4, the renders reveal a smartwatch with an edge-to-edge display and two buttons, yet with no rotating bezel or crown. The device will accordingly run on a new variant of Wear OS that – as leaks indicate – could simply be called Wear.
The initiative between the two companies was tasked to solve mutually beneficial problems; Tizen would offer greater performance enhancements such as longer battery life and faster load times, while the underpinnings of Wear OS would enable developers to create apps for one universal platform rather than split their efforts between the two platforms.

The Watch Active 4 would apparently arrive in 40 and 44mm sizes in black, green, silver and gold. It remains to be determined what internal hardware the device will carry.
While Apple and fitness brands such as Garmin appear to have enamored themselves with consumers, Google’s Wear OS has fallen far behind. While the operating system is available on a great number of devices, the platform has been critisced for lacking the same level of polish as Android enjoys.
