Video game fans will be treated to several series adaptations of some of the most loved games in history. We are still waiting to see the Uncharted series, with Tom Holland as Nathan Drake, and now we know who will play the main characters in HBO’s The Last of Us series.

Both of these titles are massively successful game series from developer Naughty Dog, and their creative team is heading up the series adaptations as well. Throwing some serious talent into the projects will make it more widely appealing to a broader audience, other than just the video game fans.
The Last of Us is primarily about the relationship between Joel and Ellie, as they make their way through a dangerous world full of zombies and deadly humans alike. These characters will be the focal point, so casting is extremely important to make it a successful series.
It has been announced that Bella Ramsay will star as Ellie, while Pedro Pascal will take on the role of Joel. Best known for her role as Lyanna Mormont in HBO’s Game of Thrones series, Bella Ramsay was a fan favourite in that blockbuster series and will need to play a vastly different character in Ellie. Pedro Pascal also starred in Game of Thrones as Oberyn Martell, but has more recently garnered many fans due to his portrayal of The Mandalorian.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the previous rumours that Joel will be portrayed by Mahershala Ali were never realistic.
The Last of Us writer and Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann expressed his delight at bringing the two actors on board in tweets:
We're absolutely thrilled to have Bella join the TLoU family! https://t.co/4v9TbLhcMr
