Since it was launched in November last year, the Tesla Cybertruck has divided people on its ‘Blade Runner’ aesthetic. Even though it isn’t expected to go into full production until 2021 and only start being delivered to buyers in late 2021, some lucky few have been able to take it for a test drive.

In this week’s episode of Jay Leno’s Garage on CNBC, the self-professed car fanatic and former talk show host spoke with Tesla CEO Elon Musk while driving him around in the Cybertruck. In fact, this is the only production spec Cybertruck that currently exists.
Although the 2021 production version won’t change in any significant way compared to the launch version, it may be slightly smaller as the production lines are automated and manufacturing techniques refined. Even by American standards, this pick-up truck is really large. As you can see in the video above, it can barely fit in their wide lanes.
Leno also takes the lumbering beast to one of the tunnel locations where Musk’s other company, The Boring Company, has already dug a tunnel to prove the technology. The Boring Company aims to build underground transportation network in large cities around the world as space becomes an ever scarcer commodity.
Tesla hasn’t even decided where the Cybertruck will be manufactured yet. It won’t be built alongside its other cars at various factories around the US or China, and a whole new factory is going to be built.
The new electric pick-up Tesla is hoping to take on traditional players like Ford, Chevrolet and Dodge in a very large American market. It certainly stands out in the crowd, and a high-torque electric engine seems a great fit for the segment.
